A daily paper for people who care about letters.
The Font News follows the world of type design: new typefaces, foundries, tools, awards and events. We do two things, and try to do them well.
News
Short items, a few lines each, published every day. Every item links to its original source: the foundry's release, the developer's announcement, the organiser's page. We check each fact against that source before it goes online.
Critique
Longer pieces on a single typeface. We look at where it comes from, how its letters are built, how it performs in use, and we end with a verdict. Critique means taking a position, so we do.
Independence
No foundry, distributor or software company owns or edits The Font News. Coverage is chosen on one criterion: is it worth a designer's time? Sponsors appear in a clearly labelled space on the home page and never buy articles, reviews or a place in the news feed. When we have a link to a studio we write about, we say so in the piece.
